Interview with Yabiladi

Ghita Zine from the Moroccan news agency, Yabiladi, interviewed me about my forthcoming film project, Beneath a Mother’s Feet.

In the interview, I discuss the inspiration behind the film, which stems from my mother’s experience as a young mother in Morocco, when she walked out of her life and left her children behind.

The film serves as a way for me to investigate my own familial history surrounding this decision. It also explores themes of maternal regret, self-identification, and social constructs around gender and parenting within the context of lower socio-economic Moroccan society.
